Thursday 16th December 2021

Dear Parents/Carer,

I am delighted to inform you about an initiative called In2MedSchool which is a free, widening participation programme for students.  Essentially the initiative involves a group of medical students from Aston University and junior doctors helping eligible students in Years 12 and 13 to apply to study Medicine and related subjects at University.  This 1:1 mentoring scheme supports students in the following ways:

  • Resources on the In2MedSchool website: www.in2medschool.com
  • One Zoom meeting each half term with a paired Medical Mentor
  • Support with medical applications and preparation for medical interviews
  • Virtual open days and BMAT/UCAT preparation workshops

If your son/daughter is in Year 12 and is thinking about medicine as a career, this would be a valuable programme to be a part of as their Medical Mentor would support them throughout the whole of their application process.

If your son/daughter is in Year 13 and has recently applied to do medicine, then they can access support with any interviews they may have in the New Year.  A parental form is required as part of the application process.  All of the Zoom sessions are recorded and information about expectations of students is outlined in the booklet they receive once they have been matched to a mentor, to ensure that this programme runs smoothly and securely.

To apply to be a part of this programme and be match with a medical mentor, your son/daughter should complete the application form on the following link: https://www.in2medschool.com/mentee-information Students from Bishop Challoner Catholic College are eligible as they attend a non-selective Sixth Form.

If this is of interest to your son/daughter, I would encourage them to complete an application form so that they can be paired with a Medical Mentor in good time.

Yours sincerely,

Miss E Darby
