Dear Parent/Carer,

We hope that you have had a blessed and peaceful break.  As we prepare to resume the academic year and another busy term, we would like to emphasise the importance of consistent attendance and good punctuality.

We would hope that all members of our community have taken the time over the Christmas break to rest and rejuvenate and spend time with family and friends.  As your son/daughter returns to school it is important that they get back into their school day routines, including getting to school on time each day.  Time is precious in education and consistent attendance and being in school on time are key to ensuring that students continue to thrive academically and socially, giving themselves the best chance of achieving their full potential.

Good attendance and punctuality is important for the reasons detailed below-

  • Social and Emotional Well-being- school is a place to build meaningful relationships and developing social skills.  Consistent attendance to school allows students to connect to their peers and the staff, fostering a productive working environment.
  • Establishing Good Routines- consistent attendance to school and being on time are life long skills that students should continue to develop.  Life skills such as responsibility and time management are not only important for success in school but for life beyond education.
  • Academic Progress/Attainment- good attendance is linked to academic success.  Students attending lessons consistently have the opportunity to engage with their learning, participate in discussions, build positive relationships with their peers and staff.  Consistent attendance will contribute significantly to their overall retention and understanding of information.

We kindly request your full support in prioritising and encouraging your son/daughter to attend school consistently, on time.  If there are any barriers or challenges to attending please contact your child's Head of Year, Assistant Head of Year or a member of the Wellbeing Team so that we can offer assistance and support, where possible.

Thank you in advance for your support, it is important that we continue to work together to ensure success for your child.

Yours sincerely,

Mr D Hearnden
