Image of Year 7 Day Trip to France Letter to Parents/Carers

Dear Parent/Carer

We are arranging a day trip to Boulogne, France, on Friday 24th June 2022 for Year 7 students.

Details

We will travel by coach, crossing via the Channel Tunnel.  The party will leave school at approximately 12 midnight (Thursday 23rd June) and return to school at around 11:30pm on Friday 24th June.  Parents will be expected to make arrangements for the safe delivery and collection of their child/children to and from school.

Activities

Our day will begin in Calais, where students will enjoy a traditional French breakfast in a typical café.  Weather permitting we will stop for a short time on the beach at Wissant for a Boules tournament. After this, there will be the opportunity to visit the old town of Boulogne with its spectacular old Citadel. Lunch will be taken in a traditional French restaurant in Boulogne Le Cyrano. In the afternoon, we will go and enjoy a guided visit of a local snail farm. Then, we will visit a hypermarket, where our students will have some time to purchase local specialities.

Cost

The cost of this trip is £106, which includes all transport costs, insurance, breakfast, lunch and entrance to the snail farm. Your child will need to have a valid passport and GHIC card; these will be checked well in advance of the trip taking place.  Your child will also need enough money to buy some food in the UK on the way back to Birmingham, as well as some pocket money (Euros) for any souvenirs they wish to buy in France.

If you would like your child to participate in this trip, please register your interest by giving consent on SchoolComms by Thursday 31st March. We only have 45 students on this trip; if interest exceeds the number of allocated places available, then names will be drawn out of a hat. If your child is successful, we will be in touch and ask you to pay a deposit of £43 by Friday 8th April 2022. The remaining balance if £63 will need to be paid by Thursday 15th May 2022
