On Wednesday 14th September a group of Year 9 girls attended a 'Girls In STEM' event at the University of Birmingham. The aim of the day was to inform and inspire the students by working with undergraduates and Lecturers in the Chemical Engineering and Robotics Faculty of the University who showcased some of the incredible work that degree students are engaged in.

They took part in a Cyanotyope workshop with a Chemical Engineer who has worked for Nasa, producing images through oxidation and exposure to UV light. They also spent time in the Robotics department, winning a competition to guide a light following robot using the torch on their phones around a track in the shortest possible time. They then had an opportunity to speak to current students about their education journey before taking up their degree courses, gaining valuable advice which will help them to make informed decisions with regards their GCSE options.
