T Levels are a new ‘Technical’ post 16 qualification that combines classroom theory with practical learning and are the equivalent of three A-Levels, over the course of 2 years. They are developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to prepare students for the workplace.
80% of students’ time is in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day industry placement, with an employer to give students the knowledge and skills needed, in preparation for the working environment.
T Levels are designed with businesses in mind, ensuring the content of T Level courses meets the needs of industries and prepares students for the workplace, offering the knowledge and experience to open the door to employment, further studying at university, or apprenticeships.

Students who complete a T Level receive an overall grade of pass, merit, distinction, or distinction*. They will get a nationally recognised certificate which will show their overall grade and a breakdown of what they have achieved.

This course is suitable for anyone who is considering a career in IT, specifically in areas such as IT solutions or data analysis; fast growing sectors of the industry that businesses across multiple sectors are either currently using or are beginning to see the benefits of doing so. This T Level seeks to give students a vast array of knowledge and understanding in core IT topics and fields. The modern business world is intrinsically entwined with technology and companies that succeed and go from strength to strength, are those who see the importance of technology and embed it in their daily practice. This includes using technology for planning, testing, project management, analysis, and problem-solving. This T Level is perfect for anyone that wishes to work in industry with a keen interest in IT.
What does studying this T Level Look Like?
This T Level is taught with a mixture of practical and theory elements. Where possible, students are exposed to the practical nature of technology which is underpinned by theory to secure their knowledge.
Course Structure
The T Level in Digital Business Services follows the traditional two-year programme of study that A-levels and BTEC’s do.
The T Level includes a 45 day placement which see students working with an employer on an industry placement.
Assessment Structure
Core Component
• Paper A written examination
• Paper B written examination
• Employer-set project
In order to achieve a grade for core component, students must have results for both sub-components (the core (written) examination and the employer-set project).
The combined results from these sub-components will be aggregated to form the overall core component grade (A*–E and U).
Synoptic Assignment
The student is also required to successfully achieve a distinction/merit/pass grade in the occupational specialism component. If the student fails to reach the specified level of attainment, they will receive a U grade.
