15th July 2022

Dear parent/carer,

Summer Term Update – Year 12

I hope that your son/daughter has been enjoying their work experience placement this week.  We are looking forward to hearing about their experiences when they return to College on Monday morning.  It was also lovely to meet so many of you at the Parents Consultation Evening recently and to be able to celebrate the academic achievements of the students as we come to the end of their first year in college.

Please remember all students must arrive by 8.40 am on Monday 18th July for an important session on UCAS/Apprenticeships and writing personal statements.  All students will be required to attend this session, even if they are unsure of their next steps, as the session will cover information that is useful for a range of different pathways.  Students will be allowed to leave College at 12 pm on that day.

Normal timetabled lessons will commence on Tuesday 19th July.  The last lessons for the year will be Periods 1 and 2 on Thursday 21st July.  Students are then welcome to attend School Mass in St Dunstan’s Church at 11.30 am.

We will also be holding a Year 12 Celebration Event for students on Wednesday 20th July, during their Enrichment session, where prizes will be awarded for a range of achievements this year, not solely academic.  All students will be required to attend this community celebration.

Students will return for the new academic year on Wednesday 7th September 2022 at 8.40 am.  I will write to you again at the start of term to advise you of the key events which will take place during the next academic year, however, the formal mock exam period is scheduled to take place in January.  Students will also complete subject assessments throughout the autumn term and you will be advised of any progress concerns. You will all receive a progress report in December.

As always, if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

I wish you and your families a lovely summer.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Osborne

Head of Year 12
